Facebook ad image size
What is the Facebook ad image size?
For most ads you are doing what is called Marketplace Ads. These advertisements are 110 pixels by 80 pixels.
The image to the right is exactly 110 x 80 :
Yep. It’s tiny.
Therefore, you should really pay attention to what you choose. Taking a large complex (heavy background, washed out foreground image) and making it really, really, tiny doesn’t work!
Best idea for Facebook ads:
- Rough
- People
- Action
- Perspective
- Colors
1. Rough. Polished stock photos suck. The better image is a common digital camera taken photo. This image looks rough, but it looks natural and real. These stand out. It’s amazing how people can scan through stock images and focus on the rough image.
2. People. People like people. They like images of people, they like people that look like them, they like people that they want to look like, and they like looking at people that they don’t want to look like.
3. Action. If there is movement, then there is attention. Imagine sitting at a busy café, where no one is moving. Then one person sneezes. That movement will capture your attention like no other. Or imagine walking in a crowd, then one person runs past you, you look. That is just the human reaction.
4. Perspective. Extreme close-ups, shooting from the ground upwards, or bird’s eye view gives a unique perspective on your subject and creates an attention getting image.
5. Colors. Facebook has set colors and background colors. Find the complementary colors and create a border or image or text that involves the color that stands out.
And that is it, the Facebook ad image size and some starter points for Facebook advertisements!
